Basic Introduction to Sewing
This is a one day introduction to machine sewing covering all the basic aspects in the art and craft of sewing. This is an excellent foundation course particularly for those who don’t feel quite ready for a full 6 week Beginners Dressmaking Course or the in depth Soft Furnishings Course. It’s a fun class and takes things back to the basics to simplify and demystify the sewing process. You will learn how to set up a machine both the newer and older machines. Topics covered are; the main stitches and seams used in both garment and creative sewing and their function; the importance of choosing the correct seam finish and correct cutting. Students will make an apron which allows you to put your new found skills to use. This will set students up for a lifetime of creative sewing. Students will be required to supply 1 metre of cotton fabric for your project.
Anyone completing this class receives a 10% reduction on any subsequent course booking (excludes One Day Workshops)
" Thanks Anne. I had a fantastic day, the time flew in and before I knew it I had actually made my very own apron from scratch. Who would have believed it! Can't wait for the next course!" Julie Henderson.
