This dressmaking class is for absolute beginners to sewing, garment design and construction. The fundamentals will be taught from how to thread a sewing machine to the correct type of stitches and seams required for your up and coming projects.
Thereafter students will be taught a wide range of skills to allow for the construction of a blouse top, to your own measurements, from a pattern which can be later adapted and designed into different styles. In addition students will tackle making garments without a pattern which will give budding Sewist the confidence to manipulate fabric to design your own simple garments. The Course will cover a number of different processes involved in making tops and skirts, for example, attaching a waistband, blind hemming, zip insertion, top stitching, bias binding finish, tips and techniques to give a professional finish to a garment. These are skills which will not only enable you to follow, straightforward commercial patterns but also enable you to alter your own existing garments, upcycle vintage finds or start you on the way to designing your own.
If you have never sewn before this course is invaluable introduction to your new found passion. Full course prices are £155 a deposit of £35 secures your place, for more details of the dates available click on the "Book Now" tab.
